Astral begins with the story of Cantinfletas, a boy from La Mancha who lives with his parents in a small town in the province of Ciudad Real, Spain.
The story begins in the 1950s and continues until the pandemic. It tells how Cantinfletas and his family moved to the Valencian coast when they could not adapt to the technological reconversion of the countryside. Once settled in Alzira (Valencia), they open a restaurant. There the protagonist lives his first love and a series of curious anecdotes about the adaptation of a young emigrant from La Mancha to a new place with customs and habits very different from those of La Mancha.
The story is told in first person from the point of view of his daughter, Katy. Katy has lost her father (Juan Ramón, Cantinfletas) in the pandemic and has not been able to say goodbye to him. To escape the pain, he remembers the childhood jokes that his father told him and mixes them with stories and legends from oral tradition
